Collaboration and Communication Services
BIOMES (Bern Intestinal Organisms and Microbial Ecosystems Society) supports its members and contributors in achieving the association’s mission. Below, you will find information on our supported communication and collaboration platforms.
Microsoft Accounts
For external communications, association projects, and collaborations, BIOMES members may use Microsoft accounts.
- BIOMES email: Your official BIOMES email follows this format: firstname.lastname@biomes-research.org
- Used for login and as BIOMES uses Microsoft Outlook as primary email service all emails to firstname.lastname@biomes-research.org will be received in your Microsoft Outlook mailbox.
- Accessing Microsoft services:
- Visit Microsoft 365 Login
- Sign in using your official BIOMES email
- Access Outlook, OneDrive, and Teams
- External partner access:
- Partners can be invited as guests to OneDrive/Teams
- Must use their own pre-existing Microsoft account
- Cannot receive BIOMES Microsoft licenses/accounts
Google Workspace
Members have the option to use Google Workspace tools such as Google Drive, Docs, and Meet.
- BIOMES email: firstname.lastname@biomes-research.org
- Used for login but not for Gmail services. Please note that as BIOMES uses Microsoft Outlook as primary email service all emails to firstname.lastname@biomes-research.org will be received in your Microsoft Outlook mailbox.
- Google Workspace alias: firstname.lastname@workspace.biomes-research.org
- Required for Gmail services
- Can be used for signing in
- Accessing Google Workspace:
- Visit Google Account Login
- Sign in with your assigned BIOMES Google email and password
- Access Google Drive, NotebookLM and other tools
- External partner access:
- Can receive full Google Workspace accounts
- Email format: firstname.lastname@external-workspace.biomes-research.org
- Contact BIOMES IT team (it@biomes-research.org) for access requests including a brief justification
GitHub Organizational Resources
BIOMES maintains an official GitHub organization account for research-related software development and repository management.
- GitHub Organization: github.com/biomes-research
- Request Access: If you need access to repositories, contact an administrator or request membership via GitHub.
- Collaboration: Use GitHub Issues and Discussions to communicate within projects.
